Duration: Full day program
Introduction
Stress, it seems, has become the 'modern illness'. Today the medical profession attributes around 80% of the sickness we suffer from – including big things like heart attack & stroke – to stress. Therefore, of course, it is a subject we all need to take very seriously.
The workplace has become an apparently stressful environment with perpetually ringing telephones, constant interruptions to our planned and scheduled activities and a whole variety of external factors that seem devised to frustrate our good intentions and creativity. No wonder we sometimes get home in the evening only to collapse into our favourite chair and wonder what we really achieved with the day.
However, it seems that stress is not really 'out there' at all. Stress is really something we create for ourselves as a reaction to the ringing 'phones and all the other external things we rightly recognize as factors. Of course, we do not intend to create stress for ourselves – but that is what we do!
Would it not be great to be able to, not just cope with these influences, but also actually rise above them; to become a little island of calm in the midst of all the turmoil that surrounds us every day in our all-too-busy lives? That is what we all need to learn how to do…
